About the project<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>

Mastering Energy Supply for Isolated Areas (MESfIA)<\/strong><\/em> aims to provide high quality postgraduate education on energy supply systems for engineers and graduates from science departments, aiming to have activity or to be employed in projects in countries with many isolated areas and insular systems. It is a co-operation activity between EU and S.E. Asian Countries (namely Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia) to improve capacity of Postgraduate Students in S.E. Asian Universities.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Objectives<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>

Among the objectives of the project are:<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/strong><\/p>

  • To define best practices of courses including procedures and requirements for certification of the achieved qualification in energy systems at regional\/national level and recommendations to stakeholders.<\/span><\/li>
  • To define best practices for implementation vocational of training including incentives for energy systems\u2019 professionals to qualify and find financial resources.<\/span><\/span><\/li>
  • Such programs will help EU HEIs to collaborate with Asian HEIs in problems that may be common like energy efficiency, coastal and island areas.<\/span><\/span><\/li>
  • By the end of the project,graduates from the adapted MSc or new MSc programs in the Partner Countries HEIs should be able to claim their expertize on improving energy supply conditions in isolated areas.<\/span><\/span><\/li>
  • An ambition of the project is to attract students from areas with problems in energy supply and prepare them to have activity in the energy sector in their own homeland.As South-East Asia is a bridge between Asia and multi-island Pacific Area, students from these areas could be reached as well as a follow-up of this project<\/span><\/span><\/li><\/ul>

    Outputs<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>

    • Realizing the difficulties in Isolated Environments and the associated peculiarities with energy management on such systems<\/span><\/span><\/li>
    • Training of Engineers at Post Graduate Level so that they can cope with the aforementioned peculiarities and become ready for applying intelligent solutions to energy supply of isolated areas. Some of these solutions could be applied in stronger power systems as well<\/span><\/span><\/li>
    • Establishing EU-Asia co-operation at regional level-island regions-common problems require common solutions and the young generation of scientists and engineers should be aware of the potential solutions.<\/span><\/span><\/li>
    • Transform existing MSc programs to targeted MSc programs for isolated areas<\/span><\/span><\/li>
    • Establishing legal recognized MSc titles so that the students can take advantage of participation in applying for jobs in regions with relatively low electrification level and many islands.<\/span><\/span><\/li><\/ul>
